Kinja'd!!!

Behold: my first Toyota, a 1989 base model . Stripped interior, rattle-can paint, wheezy stalling motor with over 319k miles, duct tape on the buns of the driver’s seat. Top speed: 75 mph? Best fuel economy: 26 mpg. No power steering. 5-speed.

Kinja'd!!!

But it was wouldn’t die... Drove it through all manner of extreme (for the PNW) conditions. I owned it for about 5 years, and it probably saved me a small fortune because all I ever replaced were a set of tires, brake pads, and a door handle. I even slapped a grille from a 1991 4Runner for styyyyyyyyyyyle.

What about you?

My 280ZX.

Can’t miss the Civic, it’s parked five feet from my house.

I’ve only ever had one car myself, but if I may, I’d like to say I miss the Ranger more than anything else.  I have promised myself I’d move heaven and earth until I’m reunited with it once again.

I miss my mum's 2003 Nissan Maxima. It was such a great cruiser. Fuel economy was trash, but hey, nothing is perfect.

I miss my ‘88 Trans Am terribly. I feel horrible for getting rid of it even years later. Maui blue, t- tops, TPI, just an all round great car to drive.

I was terrible to my first cars. An 87 Stanza sedan, 88 Thunderbird, 90 Suburban. I just wish I would have taken better care of them, made them last longer and saved money, but I probably wouldn’t have my XJ on jackstands in my garage without  all those experiences.

I’m torn between my old squarebody Suburbans, my ’84 Delta 88, and my ’96 Thunderbird. I kinda  have a thing for RWD V8s.

Probably my 1987 Jeep Wrangler. It was a great little truck. Got me everywhere I wanted to go, could carry a ton of stuff on and off road, and got me all the open air driving I wanted year round. Would just keep and bikini top on it 90% of the time.

Kinja'd!!!

I loved the burnt orange color. I really wish I had not sold it. The kid that bought it was taking it to school on Colorado. I would love to find it again, though I bet he didn’t take the best care of it.

I only had the 1 previous vehicle my $300 400K km 2000 Caravan. I’m sure the rose colored glasses help me overlook its flaws, but I miss it. I got a lot of memories even from the short period of time I had it. I t was a lot of car for $300 fuel injection, airbags, ABS, a ir/t ilt/c ruise, pwr windows front and rear, and the feature I miss most even after these years is the HEATED pw r mirrors. It was reasonably reliable as well, left me stranded a couple times when I left the lights and killed the battery, and the factory original timing belt broke at 410K km, but new t-belt and water pump and it ran better than it did before.

I have two I regret getting rid of- a 2001 Focus ZX3 and a 1974 Dodge D200 with a 440 in it.

The ZX3 I gave to one of my younger brothers when he needed a car and I no longer had a long commute. He put it in a ditch 3 weeks later...

The D200 was an awesome giant truck, had a 440 Magnum out of a roadrunner, Extended Cab Long Bed and got like 6 miles to the gallon. I loved it, but needed cash more than the truck at that point and sold it to a guy that was going to give it to his kid for a bit, then put the engine in another project. Found out his kid wrapped it around a telephone pole about 6 months after I sold it. Kid was fine, and the engine found its way into the project car after all.

The boosty boi. Sure, I spent more money repairing the 850 than I did on the purchase of any other car I’ve bought (okay, minus the Outback) and I lived in constant fear of some new thousand dollar repair to rear it’s ugly head, but it was supremely comfortable, fast by modern standards, and super unique.

Being able to gap a new Sti with zero issue in a 90's station wagon, then continue on for 300 miles of driving, arriving in perfect shape, all while never worrying about someone breaking in, screwing up the paint, or water leaking inside.... Ugh. I miss it.

Kinja'd!!!

R unner-up award goes to the Datsun pickup truck my dad gave me that I only got to drive once before it was totalled by a drunk driver. I didn’t love it at the time, but now it’s basically everything I’m looking for in a truck.

Paid $1500 for it and it never once let me down in the 6 years I had it. Rust did it in in the end.

Only time it failed to start was because the 11 year old battery died. I don’t blame the car for that one.

I don’t actually ‘miss’ any of them. Let’s face it...I’ve had my current vehicle for over 17 years. And the vehicle it replaced was the best I’d had to that time - a 200 TDi powered Land  Rover Defender. 17 years on...time will have not been kind to the Landie.

1986 Dodge Omni.  It was my first car as a teen in the mid 90s.  There are so many things I could describe as wrong with it, but I had so many good memories with that when I was 16, 17, 18.   Lost it when someone crashed into me on a wet road when I was 18 or 19.  I still miss that little pos.

2 vehicles:

v8 4x4 4runner. it was the perfect suv for me. reliable, capable, fun enough for an suv, and that v8 sound... s till have it if it wasn’t totaled in a multi-car wreck .

71 chevelle.... because they were cheap then (late 90s early 00s) and now they are insanely priced

’98 Trans Am WS6. Red, 6speed, and just so much fun for my then-younger self. It’s been 14 years since I sold it, and haven’t had any “fun” car since. My motorcycles are beyond fun, of course, but I still would like a leisure car again.

Ideally, I want a ‘99-’02 Viper GTS Coupe, but my  wife is trying to get me to compromise on something with rear seats since we have two boys (3 and 5), so I’m debating on just putting in a custom order for a ‘20 Mustang GT with a few specific options that I haven't been able to find on any dealer stocked '19s all year. It would be a fun car... but it's no Viper.

Most of them. Number one would be my first car, a 1990 crx si. Number two would probably be my mazda2, number 3 would be my mazda3, number 4 would be my mazda4, I mean my na Miata. Also miss my Saturn wagon and my Saab 9000. Pretty much any of my past cars except the Saab would be a big upgrade from my current 93 escort.

I’d say it’s a tie between the Galant VR-4 and the 91 Civic hatch.

The Civic has more nostalgia and sentimental value attached to it. I put on 7x more miles on the civic and I owned it from 18-21.

The ave-4 Galant tho was actual a cool car, it was crazy fun to drive.

I would love to have either again anytime. Technically I still have the civic, but it’s rotting away in the woods.... with no roof.

I know how that goes. I had to sell my 99 Civic because I had a loan on it and couldn’t swing full coverage. I was paying 160/ month for the payment and 135/month on the insurance ouch. Being 18 and having 3 tickets makes insurance expensive.

I sold it and bought my 91 civic. Didn’t have a loan and I think I paid 7 0 bucks a month for insurance.

Now there is a question, loved my ‘67 Red Sprite (2nd car I ever owned) ‘66 BRG Triumph TR4A (4th car) ‘85 RX-7 (5th) ‘54 Healey 100 (lost track) ‘ 94 Sentra SE-R.

For modernish daily drivers probably the RX7, for old hobby cars the Healey was just special, picked it up on the tail end of when you could get them relatively cheap.

that is my car and my photo, posted to an enthusiast website in France.  I could just stare at it in the garage and be happy.

The 126 was a sweet thing, even though I miled it up a bit and it developed your favorite issue, rear main seal (I left that for the next owner):

E55 AMG was also a good car, these are quite solid save for rust worries, I still get a dose of seller’s remorse now and then:

Not the Allroad. Not the probably-flood-damaged XC90. Not the ‘86 T-bird that made up for its lack of performance with a lack of style or reliability. Not even the ‘08 M3 (The beautiful wail of that V8 almost drowned out my wail as I took out my wallet for each repair !).

It’s the 1977 F150 with a built 460, terrible stock brakes and suspension, 12 mpg of pure teenage driving bliss. With a non-locking differential, I could smoke that one rear tire for days. It had been the service truck for my dad’s shop, and withstood abuse no pickup should ever endure. I think that’s why it was such a faithful truck - like one of those adopted pit bulls that are the best dogs ever.

Did I mention that it’s not the Allroad?
